My boudoir experience...

After years and years of contemplating having ‘a sexy underwear-shoot’ taken to surprise my husband, I finally decided to ignore my fears of inadequacy and ‘just get it done’.

I am almost 40, have had two beautiful kids and had excused myself by always wanting to lose a few kilos - and firm up – before facing that camera. In the end almost two decades passed, I had two children and became blessed with curves and cellulite that I’d rather not have other people see.

I must say, the photo shoot itself was totally not what I had expected! I could have kicked myself for not having done it much earlier. What a confidence boost! What a wonderful and uplifting experience! We had so much fun!  From the moment I walked into the studio I was put at ease. We shared a cup of coffee, there was subtle music playing in the background that somehow changed to my preference and without my realising it and really making me more comfortable.

They listened. The husband and wife-team really took some time and listened to my fears of photos being taken from the wrong angle, of being seen by a man other than my husband. I felt uncertain as I was carrying more weight than I would have wanted to... I did not want my butt visible under any circumstances and was worried about cellulite. They were kind and set me at ease, with ease.
The build-up to the actual shoot had been exciting, shopping for some great underwear, getting my hair cut and styled for the shoot. Rosalie helped me change, did my makeup professionally, making suggestions, but not overpowering me with ideas.

They focused on my strong points, allowing me to shy away from the camera at first and stole pictures while jokingly setting me at ease – perhaps delivering some of the best pictures of the day.
What a warm environment. My inherent shyness soon melted away. I relaxed totally, they showed me the results of some of the pictures while we were taking them and I pleasantly surprised that I could look that good... unedited. I gained confidence and before I knew it a couple of hours had passed and we had the best time dressing up, laughing, changing vantage points, changing lighting and decor.

The end result – my husband was amazed at my new found confidence – before even seeing the pictures. I felt beautiful, inside and out, for the first time in years!

What did I take away from this boudoir shoot? An amazingly uplifting experience, I did not need to shed my clothes, I never felt uncomfortable, and there was nothing dirty about the picture, no unflattering vantage points.

We painted with light by taking pictures from subtle vantage points that afforded a suggestion of ‘sexiness’ rather than exploiting nakedness.
We captured memories and an inner happiness that I did not know that I possessed.
In all, “It was ‘awesome’”.

I should have done it years ago. What a confidence boost!

Thank you for the most gorgeous boudoir photo book. The result is amazing and my husband loved his surprise present. I have to say that it was such a positive experience and I loved every moment of it. Clearly my inner child came out to play and you and Rosalie were such wonderful professionals to work with. I also loved the way that Rosalie did my make up! Thank you to both of you for making me feel so comfortable and good. I will recommend the experience to anyone, even if it is just to satisfy some inner desire to play model for a few hours. Loved it!
